Jan-Dirk Lueders is a partner and co-founder of Pondera and is responsible for evaluating potential investment opportunities and managing portfolio companies at a board level. He is also the co-founder and co-CEO of CMT Group. Jan-Dirk has over 30 years of experience investing across venture capital, private equity, and hedge funds, and has deep expertise in developing emergent technologies. Jan-Dirk began his career at the Chicago Research and Trading Group “CRT” in the T-Bond options pit of the Chicago Board of Trade. Following CRT, he was instrumental in launching a trading operation at one of the first electronic options and futures exchanges, Eurex (Formerly DTB.) Quickly identified as one of the foremost trading technology experts of his time by his peers, Jan-Dirk was elected and served as the youngest member of Eurex’s Exchange Council. In 1997, fueled by his early passion for technological advancement, Jan-Dirk co-founded CMT Group, a global electronic trading firm focused on developing cutting edge, low-latency electronic trading technologies. Since inception, the CMT Group has evolved into a diversified asset manager, with a portfolio that spans public and private equity, debt, real estate, technology, and digital assets. In 2015, Scott and Jan-Dirk founded CMT Digital, a global blockchain and web3 venture capital firm focused on early-stage investments that accelerate the adoption of blockchain technology. Jan-Dirk’s extensive experience as an investor, entrepreneur, and technological expert has allowed him to invest in more than 100 companies and protocols across the blockchain ecosystem. Jan-Dirk currently serves on the boards of CandyCo, Wag’n Tails Mobile Conversions, Blue Book Services, and Creative Memories. Jan-Dirk received his undergraduate degree in Business Economics from Lueneburg University.
